All this rainy DC weather has us thinking of our rainy day romantic shoot at Rive Farm back in the Spring. A little rain could not stop us from bringing together an afternoon of bold prints, delicate details and a stunning bride and groom. Check out the photos on Wedding Unveiled – here! and Washingtonian Bride & Groom – here! We are thrilled to see these photos on two amazing online outlets, hoping we spread the word that rain will not ruin a wedding day!

Our favorite detail of the day – that table linen!! The bold print and blue color was a perfect contrast to the traditional place settings and gorgeous floral arrangements. We wanted the look to have the perfect mix of prep, garden romance and sass – all tied together with organic blooms, sparkling ‘maids dresses and a slim suit on our groom {and not to mention – those adorable flowers girls with their butterfly nets!}. River Farm is an ideal outdoor DC venue – with views of the Potomac and beautiful gardens to host a ceremony or cocktail hour, with an option to host your reception inside {for smaller groups} or outdoors under the tent {larger groups}.

Here are some of our favorites from the afternoon.

Our favorite type of proposal- A DC PROPOSAL! We are thrilled to have our patriotic proposal featured on Style Me Pretty {click here to check it out!}. The groom wanted a DC Proposal and we think what we delivered exceeded his {and her!} expectations!! Setting up a quiet picnic near the WWI Memorial was a great decision, as on that beautiful spring evening it may have been the only quiet spot on the mall away from locals and tourists. We could not have asked for a more beautiful spring evening, the weather was perfect and the LIGHTING, talk about the perfect portrait lighting for film!! She knew something was up when he asked to take a walk before heading to a friends birthday party and as soon as she say the picnic set up – it was time to act before she asked any more questions. After she said “YES” they had some time to enjoy some treats from Ridgewells Catering & Buttercream Bakeshop before heading off to the party to celebrate with friends and family. Happy Engagement C&R!

We love to be a part of all parts weddings, it is so much fun to offer assistance to our future grooms as the prepare to ask the BIG question. Designing something that reflects the beginning of their love story is so beautiful and the really unique to design with one half of the couple – listening to their story and helping them orchestrate the perfect proposal makes us giddy {we love a good surprise and proposals are the ULTIMATE surprise!}

Hey Friends!

CHEERS DARLING IS LIVE!! We are so excited to have officially opened our “doors” and are ready to create event magic in the District and beyond!!

Let’s introduce Kaitlin, Cheers Darling Owner and Lead Designer and share some of her favorite wedding (and non wedding) things…

Hi there! My name is Kaitlin and I am #bosslady here at CDE! I absolutely love weddings and everything events, so much that I have been working in the events industry for the past eight years. Working as a DC Wedding Planner has been one of the greatest adventures, the industry is full of amazingly creative vendors and I cannot imagine doing anything else for a profession. After graduating from the College of Charleston in the AMAZING city of Charleston, South Carolina, I spent a few years working the corporate event planning world before making the switch to the social & wedding world! I cannot wait to share the CDE journey with you all. Be sure to follow us on Instagram, TwitterFacebook  and Pinterest to catch a peak of us behind the scenes, see what inspires us and be a part of our daily happenings! xx Kaitlin

Favorite Flower: Peonies (in the Spring) and Dahlias (in the Fall)

Happy Hour Drink: Bubbles, please! Champagne is always a good idea.

Favorite Moment of a Wedding Day: The few seconds before the bride walks down the aisle, I always get a little choked up! In that moment, there is such a mix of excitement, anticipation and love – the words exchanged between a bride and her ‘maids/whomever is walking her down the aisle are so special (and these are some of my FAVORITE photos from the day)

Dream Wedding Locale : A Tuscan Vineyard

When you are not planning events you can find me : sweating (indoor cycling is my favorite) or happy hour-ing with girlfriends on 14th Street!

Favorite Holiday: Fourth of July

Most Important Advice for Brides and Grooms to be: ENJOY YOURSELVES! The day is going to fly by, so sit back, take it all in and have fun. Do not stress about the little details or the timeline, we will handle the logistics and you enjoy your day!
